I thought this title reminded me of when I was in school, and the teacher would go around the room asking what everyone did over the summer. It an "elementary" title (no pun intended) but to-the-point. Back then, I would have talked about going to Cedar Point, a serious benchmark for all amusement parks, or going to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to soak up rays and to check out the Portuguese Man-O-War jellyfish washed up on the shore. Now I'm in the midst of preparing for my summer vacation to Ohio. Yes, Ohio! Believe me, I really wanted to head West instead until I hit Hawaii, but that will be for another time and blog. This last week I've been packing, shopping, working overtime...all in preparation for a few days in the hot and humid Midwest. I'm almost a little embarrassed to write I haven't been back to my hometown in 14 years. It's going to be a little bit of a twilight zone experience. My parents still live in the same house I grew up in for 18 years. I'm wondering what it will be like to drive up the long driveway, see the old barn, walk around the house and see my former bedroom (which I believe has long been turned into a sewing room). I'm sure thoughts and memories will come flooding back to me, and everything will be somewhat surreal. My goal is to write a little bit every day or so in my blog about my trip and hopefully include a few photos as well. Grab a pop (that's Midwest for soda), sit back and enjoy the story!
